Happy 13th birthday Gabby, Riley, Addy, Cooper, and Emmy!

We have 6 teenagers in the house now!!

When we had decided to announce the quintuplet pregnancy, I remember a friend asking, "What will you do when they ALL go to school?!? I responded, a little overwhelmed, "I'm just focusing on trying to keep them in utero as long as I can. I can't even think about them being in school yet."

And here we are, 13 years later, with Gabby, Riley, Addy, Cooper, and Emmy in 7th grade. For all the obstacles that we were warned about, including cerebral palsy, blindness, and neural tube defects, the kiddos beat the odds and even surpassed our expectations. God has blessed us with three of the five in the gifted and talented program at our school, while the other two are in advanced math.

Gabby, Addy, and Emmy all played the piano and instruments at one point, but with being involved in competitive sports teams, they opted to just do multiple sports. They all played soccer for 5yrs, before they decided that they wanted to try other sports.

We finally let them separate in 5th grade into the sports they really enjoyed. Gabby (slapper and outfield) and Emmy (short stop), play softball year round, while Addy plays basketball year round, and runs track in the summer. John coaches the sisters in flag football in the fall.

The sisters' along with Gianna joined National Charity League this year. It's fun to volunteer with them and see them enjoy working together and partnering with various organizations to give back to the community!

Riley and Cooper briefly took piano lessons in kindergarten, but as sports took over, it was very hard to find time to get them to practice with all the other sports practices they had going on. The boys mainly play football, tackle and 7v7 (off season). Riley plays quarterback and Cooper plays middle linebacker. Riley will also be playing middle school basketball while Cooper tries out wrestling this year. The boys also run track with Addy in the summer.

As an Asian parent, I feel like a semi-failure for not fostering the musical side of them longer (IYKYK...haha).

Let's start this 13th birthday tribute by celebrating...

๐Ÿ’šGabby: she is very social, loves to laugh, and super creative/artsy. She has a talent for organization! Whenever the pantry needs to be re-organized, she can knock it out pretty quickly in Pinterest style. I am amazed at the end product, because that just overwhelms me ๐Ÿ˜‚  One of her love languages that is my favorite, is gift giving. For example, the girls had received more birthday gifts from their friends then the boys had. Gabby wanted to immediately go to the store after the party to go buy her brothers a gift with one of her gift cards. The siblings are so lucky to have a sister like her!! At this time, Gabby still wants to be a teacher for her profession.

๐Ÿ’–Riley: he is a hard worker, tender-hearted, and I love my one-on-one time with him when we go for his monthly food and allergy shots. Whether it's playing phone games together, or talking about his day, I will treasure those moments! John enjoys working with Riley on his QB training and also taking him to his various lessons and tryouts. He likes to dabble with cooking as well. Eggs are his specialty right now. I was laughing so hard this morning, cause he ran downstairs and in a fake deep voice said, "Good morning Mom!" Don't worry Bubs, you'll hit puberty soon!! ๐Ÿ˜† Then you will become a BEAST!! Riley's dream is to play QB in the NFL someday!

๐Ÿ’›Addy: is the quietest of the five, but is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Her sweet smile and overall chill disposition balances all the personalities in the house ๐Ÿ˜. I love watching her play basketball! She plays hard and running track has definitely elevated her game in steals and fast breaks. I also love that she has a servant heart and willing to help when needed. I love my one-on-one time on the days when our drive is 35-40 mins to her bball practices. In the future, Addy would love to play in the WNBA and become an RN.

๐Ÿ’™Cooper: has a heart of gold! I've always mentioned that he LOVES to read! ๐Ÿ“š His goofiness gives me a chuckle. He is very good with assembling things! In fact, it's his job to fix the door handles, when they come off. Or tighten loose fixtures around the house. He comes up with creative games to play with his siblings in the house. They can be occupied for hours with one of his games, which I am SUPER grateful for ๐Ÿ˜‚. I'm pretty sure he has the most money saved out of all the siblings. And he is still interested in becoming a robotics engineer someday.

๐Ÿ’œEmmy: is my sous chef. The other 2 sisters like helping in the kitchen, but Emmy is consistently in there with me, whether it's cooking or baking. Her sense of humor is the closest to mine, of the 5....haha. We can make each other laugh anytime. She also is my Costco and errands buddy. Really good at sticking to buying only things on the list...๐Ÿ˜‰  She does a great job with massages and Theragun usage on me on the days that I go to work! Of course it has to be reciprocated, but I don't mind. Her tenacity and grit will get her far in life. As of now, she still wants to be a physician for her profession

There are SO many people to thank who have gotten us through these last 13yrs. First and foremost we are so grateful and humbled that God would entrust us with these lives! His hand in the pregnancy til now still has me welling up with tears at His faithfulness and provision for our family.

We are also so thankful to our parents, relatives and friends, that helped take care of the kids early on. We were also blessed with volunteers when they were babies to 2.5yrs old. From all the various moms, dads, families, church leaders, teachers, and coaches that have DRIVEN, taught, and coached our kiddos up til now, we will never be able to articulate how grateful we are that you have served and are still serving our family in this way!!

Happy 13th birthday Gabrielle๐ŸŽ‚, Riley๐ŸŽ‚, Addison๐ŸŽ‚, Cooper๐ŸŽ‚, and Emerson๐ŸŽ‚!!!!! Mom, Dad and Gianna love you so much ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ

I will have 2018 update out before GRACE turns 13 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I just found this "draft" while getting ready to write GRACE's 13th bday tribute.

HA! We are nearing the end of 2019 and I have yet to have 2018 much less 2019 update. Hey, at least I am consistent with LONG pauses of blogging! I think moving forward, I will just blog when I can and not feel the burden of trying to "catch up" everytime I blog.

So on the last post, the kids' went to the Ft. Worth Zoo with their preschool class. They graduated shortly after. And Gianna had her last day of school at Beck Elementary.

From left: Riley, Gabby, Emmy, Addy, and Cooper

Last day of 2nd grade

Summer was filled with lots of water activities. We went to a water pad, took swimming lessons and then got season passes to Hawaiian Falls. Gianna got to go to a birthday party at Urban Air and went on the This kept us busy while we were getting ready to move again! But just locally this time.

We went on vacation to CA right before school started. We stopped in AZ on the way to reunite after 7 years with one of the nurses that took care of me while I was pregnant with the quints and also Dr. John Elliott, who was my primary OB among 5-7 other docs that rounded on me daily.

We visited our So cal friends and family. We had some friends from France that were visiting CA the same time we were, so we got together for part of the vacation and did some touristy things with them.  We went to the beach, had fun at a Dodger game, walked around Mann's Chinese theater, and had fun on the rides at Knott's Berry Farm. THEN we drove 20hrs straight to make it back in time for the 1st day of school. ๐Ÿ˜’ We will NOT be repeating that again!

Kids' were over the moon to ride the BUS!!

As fall came along, activities the kids' enjoyed were: soccer, celebrating their 6th birthday at school

Recap of 2018

(Dec.10, 2019). I just found this draft while I was starting my next entry. This is so sad....I can't maintain a blog to save my life!! I'm having a hard time adding the pics from the rest of 2018 in, so I will just put them in the next entry ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nevermind that we're more than halfway through 2019 ๐Ÿ˜‚. I thought that I had started a draft for my post for 2018, but sadly did not. So I will hit the highlights and try to make it short and sweet because I need to start on 2019 ๐Ÿ˜„.

Gianna getting "A" honor roll award for 1st quarter.
In January, Gianna received the medal for maintaining A's for her 1st quarter. Although impressive, what makes it even more amazing is that she had Strept throat 4x during that quarter but was still able to perform at her best!
First Father/Daughter Dance
Gianna attended her first Father/Daughter dance with John. She had a blast and so did he!
The Ft.Worth Stockyard and Rodeo was going on during the February, so when in Texas..., we decided to attend our first rodeo. It was fun to watch the intro to the rodeo. Also got to see all the different competitions that they have.

Seeing some of the cows.

Gabby, Addy, and Emmy's Father/Daughter dance.
Not to be outdone by their older sister, the girls' had their first Father/Daughter(s) dance at their pre-school. Needless to say, John's dance card was literally full! They all had fun dancing and eating massive amounts of sugar!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Spring arrived and soccer season started up again for us. Although a busy time, I absolutely loved watching them progress in their games! They had played indoor soccer during the winter, so it was exciting to see them demonstrate their new skills during their spring season!! I think I was the only one cheering loudly (aka "screaming") for the kids. Yes! I am THAT mom at the field ๐Ÿ˜‚

On our way out to cheer on the boys!

Gabby excited for snacks after the game!

2017 in a nutshell

After a hiatus for almost a year and a half, I am back to update you all on our journey so far. And quite the journey it has been!!

Winter 2017- While the weather outside was cold, we entertained ourselves with gymnastics. We also decided to build a house in Fishers, IN.

Spring 2017- We broke ground in March on our new home. The day we broke ground, John was asked by his corporate office to consider promoting to the Dallas/Forth Worth area in Texas. We've been down this road before, so we continued the building process thinking nothing would come out of it. We decided to fly out to CA, after being away for almost 2yrs, for Spring Break.

Getting on the plane!
Visiting with our cousin Emily.

Getting in some pool time!

Getting to see our old neighbors in Fullerton!

Spent time at Knott's Berry Farm with Grandpa, Grandma, and our cousins,
Caleb and Trinity.

Meeting our newest nephew, Lucas!

Gianna turned 7 end of April. She had a Shopkins themed birthday.

Gianna finished 1st grade and G.R.A.C.E. wrapped up their first year of preschool.

Gianna wrote a book about Shopkins
and got to share with other students/parents.

Gianna lost a total of 8 teeth this year!

John decided to interview for the Texas promotion in June and got the job. We had moved to an apartment when school finished, anticipating the move to our newly built home end of summer. But with the latest outcome, we started mentally changing gears towards moving to Texas the end of July. Because we were too far into the build, we had to finish the house then sell it while we were living in Texas.
Leaving our Goodloe house.

Close to final completion of the Allistair  house.
Our summer was busy with multiple transitions. We moved into an apt for 2 months. John was able to fish in the pond behind our apartment with the kids. We also celebrated the 4th of July by doing our own fireworks show.

John teaching the kids  how to fish.

Waiting for Daddy to light up the fireworks!

Connor Prairie was one of our favorite places to visit! From day 1,
the kids kept asking if they could ride in the hot air balloon. I kept telling them they would
get to ride it if we ever had to leave IN. They got their wish after 2 years!

I got to get together with 2 other families with quintuplets. Between the 3 moms, we have 16 children ๐Ÿ˜‚
*20 points if you can match the kids to their mom!

We will miss you Indy! It was great living here for the last 2 years!!

Getting ready for take off!

Landing in DFW airport. Our first flight without other adults traveling with us!
We moved to Dallas and lived in a 2 bd/1bth hotel for 2.5 weeks. Not an experience that I'd like to repeat!! The silver lining was that we got to eat free breakfast every morning!

Then the moving truck had to come 3 separate times to bring our belongings. Some of the items are still missing and went to the great warehouse in the sky ๐Ÿ˜‚.

We decided to rent a house for a year or two to see what area we wanted to settle down in.

Gianna started 2nd grade at Samuel Beck Elementary school and GRACE started Pre-K at Trophy Lakes Academy.

We found a small splash pad to help with the Texas HEAT!!

First day of school!

John and I flew to Indianapolis to see U2 in concert in Sept.

ALL the kids played soccer in the Fall!

We celebrated the Fab Five's 5th birthday as Super Heroes: Flash, Captain America
Super Girl, Spider Girl, and Bat Girl!
Grandma did a fantastic job on the cake and
cupcakes!!

Our line up this year was: Anna (Frozen), Elena of Avalor, Riley (himself),
Elsa, Elastic Girl (Incredibles), and Flash. Below pics from our Jack-O-Lantern
